maureen & the late Peter green
Peter had been a Treasurer of the Association for many years. Maureen is the current Secretary of the Association. Both Peter & Maureen made an enormous contribution to the Association and Harness Racing in general, as Breeders, Owners and Administrators.
Maureen first got involved when she met her late husband Peter Green back in 1979.
He owned a horse named Action Advice who raced and won at Harold Park on Friday night's. She then realised what an exciting sport this was and also as an owner, all the decisions that had to be made. It also meant meeting wonderful like minded people who were very welcoming and friendly. It is a lifestyle as well as a wonderful exhilarating sport.
Even without presently owning a horse she can still be involved and feel the adrenalin rush when a horse we bred wins a race.
Maureen has been on the committee for 6-7 years and we thank her for her efforts.
Peter & marie neil
Peter and Marie have been involved in Harness racing for about 34 years with the purchase of two filly yearlings at the APG sale.
They operate all racing and breeding under the name of Raynold Pty Ltd.
They purchased a property at Goulburn, “Shannon Springs” for the Broodmares and young stock and the old “Ashbrook Stud” at Bathurst for the racing stock.
Over the 34 years they have owned/bred over 1,000 Standardbreds and of these 24 have won over $100,000 in prize money.
They have been members of Harness Breeders NSW for approximately 32 years. Peter is a Life Member of the Breeders and was the President for several years. Marie is still involved with the Breeders as Secretary.
They attended the first meeting of the Owners Association and Peter was elected the inaugural President and Marie joined the Committee a few months later.
They have had the opportunity to purchase fillies from USA to form part of our Broodmare band. They also purchased 2 American stallions. Ball and Chain with Success Stud and Million Dollar Cam with Yirribeee Stud. We also have our home-grown stallion John Shannon who is living the life at Shannon Springs.
Harness Racing has enabled them to meet and become friends with many like minded people and the opportunity to travel to New Zealand and establish a breeding establishment on the South Island. We are still lucky enough to be still breeding and racing our horses. At the present time they have bred/owned 1,652 winners.
Daniel Cordina
Daniel has been on the committee since the inception of the association. He is now currently the vice president who puts in endless hours for our committee. Harness racing has been a passion of his for 60 years and it’s great watching your horses race especially when they win.
Daniel has a number of horses which included approximately 20 in Australia and the same amount in the USA.
At the current time we have a great committee and it’s a pleasure to work with them.
