David Carpenter has been in the sport for a long time and this year became the NSWSOA owner of the year in the Newcastle region with 24 wins...

"The last season was a very pleasing one and our most successful season since I started racing horses in the early 1990's. This year was a first in that whilst we won races at a number of tracks, it was pleasing that we were able to win a country series final race at Menangle with Arti Lady Tingira at the beginning of the season.

It's a hard place to win races at Menangle but pleased to finally break the drought.

At the end of the season we were lucky enough for my wife's favourite horse Mother Kym to win a Breeders Challenge series race at Young as she had been competitive against the good 3yo fillies all season but just that level or two below them. With these horses ineligible she was able to win the race.

The most pleasing race for the season was the Quinella of the Hawkesbury to the Hunter with Just Julia and Her Ex and I. This was a race that I was involved in the creation of many years ago and it was great to win Quinella the race as outsiders in the field.

A special thanks must go to my trainers – Shane Tritton for presenting our horses to each race in such great condition.

To Alwyn Morris for the work he does pre training and breaking our young horses in.

And to Kerri Ann Turner for managing to get Christopher Henry to win a few times.

To all the drivers that have driven for us throughout year.

To Lauren for a great start and end to the season.

A big thank you to Mark Callaghan who drove successfully for us in the middle of the season.

And to all the others that are too many to name, thanks for your driving efforts".
