The NSW Betting Tax Legislation Bill was introduced into the Parliament by the NSW Government in November 2015. The subsequent Act provided for reductions in tax on wagering and was backdated to 1 July 2015. As a result NSW Treasury estimates the harness racing industry will receive a total amount of $29.9 million over the next five years.
HRNSW is seeking industry feedback before considering priorities for funding which will flow from the 2016/2017 financial year. Submissions are invited from industry bodies, racing clubs and individuals.
It is important to note the NSW Government has indicated that the allocation of funds provided via tax parity is to be distributed in accordance with the code's Strategic Plan. Therefore submissions need to conform to the strategies identified in the controlling body's Strategic Plans.
The closing date for submissions is close of business on Monday 29th February 2016 and can be forwarded to:
Mr John Dumesny
Harness Racing NSW
PO Box 1034
Bankstown NSW 1885
Or submissions can be emailed directly to
